Wannabe online estate agents have a chance of a lifetime to launch a business now that the UK’s most search-friendly and valuable domain property.co.uk has been offered for sale.

Australian digital marketing consultant Ryan Norrish has revealed that he is selling both the domain and realestate.co.uk for an undisclosed sum both as a package or separately.

Norrish says the domains have already received keen interest from both several of the larger hybrid and online estate agents, as well as traditional high street agents too.

Property.co.uk is the larger prize of the two. Google says the search term ‘property’ which the domain would rank best for, attracts some 13,000 clicks and 140,000 impressions a month.

Both domains have been sat on by Norrish since 2006 while he bided his time as both hybrids, online and digital property businesses have taken more market share in the UK.

“This is an opportunity for an established property business to rebrand, or snap up the ultimate name in the industry. Alternatively, it’s the ideal name for a new player wanting to establish authority,” he says.

“Until now, property.co.uk has been unavailable to the UK market and we’re excited to see who comes forward and what the new owner decides to do with this extremely valuable domain. If somebody wants to lease the name with an option to buy, that’s a possibility too.”

High profile and popular domains can make or break businesses in the property sector. Aaron Short (left), who is about to officially launch lettings portal Accommodation.co.uk says his domain name has really helped.

“The name gets us through so many doors, it really does,” he says. “I’ve spoken to so many people recently and they immediately get it when you mention the URL.”

Norrish says he is selling the domains directly instead of through a broker and that he will soon set a deadline for buyers to submit offers and then reward the highest bidder. Both domains come with their corresponding addresses property.uk and realestate.uk. More information from property.co.uk.
