Estate agents are well known for their charitable activities and now there is a new way to build business and help charities.
A former journalist, Jerry Lyons, is the founder of the the Estate Agent Content Club (EACC), which supplies weekly content marketing articles for non-competing independent estate agents.
Each month the EACC members pay a monthly subscription and £5 of each subscription is donated to the Karma Club, which, in turn, is donated to a different charity or grassroots organisation.
From Sussex to Australia
That’s the philosophy behind the Karma Club, a new ‘pay it forward’ project from the EACC. One of the first community organisations to benefit from the Karma Club, was a girls’ football team in Seaford, East Sussex, who received much needed kit.
The club has also given £300 to Agents for Aus, the appeal set up by Simon Whale to support victims of the Australian bushfires.
In March and April, the Karma Club will donate to a support group for parents of children with autism and special needs, and a youth boxing club.
Lyons (left) says: “There is so much negativity in the world right now. It’s all doom and gloom and crisis after crisis, but through the Karma Club, we’re doing something positive.
“Our members have been very enthusiastic about the donations, and it goes to show that good estate agencies are often the most generous and community-minded businesses out there.”
The Karma Club’s general emphasis is on helping small organisations that don’t have a huge fundraising machine behind them. Jerry added, “There are so many brilliant grassroots charities and community groups out there. It feels great to help the little guy or girl out, so to speak.”
The Karma Club also fits with the EACC’s three core principles: creativity, community and value. “I think every business needs a purpose – something more than just making money. We can all do a little good in a world where there’s a lot of bad.”
