The former boss of failed property firm Humberts, which went into administration late last year, has secured a new role at a company with close ties to the estate agency.
Tim Simmonds was briefly CEO of Humberts after a 21-year career at the company prior to its collapse on 19th December when staff were told not to turn up to work and, a few days later, its website was taken down although this has since been reinstated.
Humberts administrator, Begbies Traynor, is now seeking a buyer for the company which is separate to its six franchised branches, which continue to trade as normal.
Simmonds, who is based in Yeovil, Somerset, has joined local firm Chesters Commercial as a full-time senior associate.
The move is not a surprising one. Chesters Commercial is the former commercial arm of Humberts.
It has a 20-year track record and was operated under a franchise agreement as Humberts Commercial until 2014, when the company was renamed, a parting of ways that took place the same year Chesterton and Humberts brands were separated.
Chesters specialises in consulting on and selling light industrial, retail and hospitality units in Somerset and has a long list of high-profile freeholders and landlords as clients within the county.
Its other services include property management, planning and development consultancy and, its latest accounts suggest, is a thriving but relatively small business with just six employees. This includes its three directors and the latest addition, Simmonds.
