The industry’s most promising young estate agents are to gather at Westminster today to find out who are the winners of this year’s Propertymark Qualifications awards.

Hosted by Lord Best, OBE the event should be a lively affair for several reasons.

Parliament is currently encircled with protesters from both sides of the Brexit debate as Boris Johnson attempts to get his Brexit bill through; and Lord Best is one of the chief architects and chairman of Regulation of Property Agents (RoPA) Working Group.

The grouping earlier this year published its report on compulsory industry regulations after months of public evidence gathering from industry leaders.
This will include minimum qualifications for estate agents working on the front line before they can legally carry out their roles regardless of previous experience.

To be held in the Cholmondeley Room and terrace in the House of Lords, it is expected that one of the current housing ministers will give out the prizes at the event, alongside Mark Smith who heads up Propertymark’s qualifications operation.

These will include sales candidate of the year, lettings candidate of the year, auctioneer candidate of the year, the industry’s rising star, employer champion and learner of the year.

It is also likely that a ‘lifelong achievement’ award will also be handed out, which last year went to NAEA past president Melfyn Williams.

Propertymark is the UK’s largest property industry training organisation offering regulated property qualifications through in-house training, online courses, business skills courses and both estate agency and commercial sector courses.
