An 11-year-old and award-winning independent lettings agency in London has sold up to a local corporate buyer despite being the most successful business in the area with 200 properties under management.

Daisy Lets, which is based in the south London suburb of Forest Hill, is run by a team of seven and was founded by Claire Empson (picture above, centre), who is a well-known figure within the industry.

Empson has also featured in several TV and radio programmes and podcasts, partly because she has been a champion of Boris Johnson’s London’s Rental Standard accreditation scheme.

She is also active in politics, recently speaking at a Women’s Equality Party Conference urging delegates to lobby government on the provision of local retirement housing.

Her lettings agency business has now been bought by nearby competitor Northwood Dulwich for an undisclosed sum.

lettings agency“There was a lot of interest in the acquisition of Daisy Lets and I am delighted to have been successful in acquiring what was a former competitor,” says Stuart Williams of Northwood Dulwich (left), who was supported by Northwood’s acquisitions team to make the purchase.

“Daisy Lets is a great fit with my existing business, because it is an independently run agency, which had been locally owned and built up from the ground to establish a very strong brand. It now has an excellent reputation as a respectable award-winning business.”

Northwood is to retain all Daisy Lets staff and ‘for now’ the name of the lettings agency business is to remain, so strong is its local reputation, says Williams.
