A group of intrepid cyclists have gone the extra mile to raise £31,000 for children with life-limiting illnesses.
The 31 strong group took part in the gruelling 55 mile London to Brighton charity bike ride organised by Magic Moments, the children’s charity set up by Spicerhaart.
The charity takes children from hospices and their families to Disneyland Paris every year and the money raised from the bike ride alone will mean 20 families will be treated to a magical four days with Mickey Mouse.
Chairman of the Trustees for Magic Moments, Jonathan Martin, said, “I can’t say thank you enough to all those people who took part in the ride, along with all our sponsors, friends and families who have helped us to raise such a fantastic amount.
“The money raised will help those families we take to Disneyland to have fun and relax during what is an extremely difficult time in their lives. It really will help them to make wonderful new memories.”
The cycle ride, in perfect weather, was organised by Sue Morhall, who works for Spicerhaart. She added, “It was a brilliant day, a real team effort. Everyone cheered each other on, right from the start point at Clapham Common, and it was so fantastic to see everyone arrive at Brighton Pier. “They were exhausted after their ride across the hilly South Downs and their final leg up the extremely steep Ditchling Beacon, but exhilarated by their achievement.”
